Overview: One of two bases in the nation where
the Navy provides primary flight training, the other
in Corpus Christi, Texas. Whiting is one of the
busiest airfields in the Navy.

Mission: This base trains student naval aviators in
the primary and intermediate phases of fixed-wing
aviation, and in the advanced phases of helicopter
training. It's one of the Navy's two primary pilot
training bases, and trains in addition to Naval
aviators, Marine, Coast Guard, Air Force and
foreign student pilots. Primary flight training
student aviators train from North Whiting Field
while advanced helicopter training takes place at
South Whiting Field.

Training Squadron 2, Training Squadron 3;
Training Squadron 6; Helicopter Training
Squadron 8; Helicopter Training Squadron 18.
There are also 13 outlying fields used for student
training.
